A POWERFUL MESSAGE!

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. - Matthew 7:24-27

I've heard many sermons preached on the above scripture but the sermon from Pastor Dave on Tuesday exploded in a flash of light in my head and has given me a totally new insight into Holy Scripture!

It is plain to infer from the above scripture that a person whose life has a foundation on the Word of God will stand up to all the trials of life but a deeper study on the word rock reveals a very different message altogether!

In Deut. 32:4 as well as Ps. 18:2, God has been called a 'rock' (as in a strong foundation). In 1 Cor. 3:11, Jesus is referred to as our 'foundation'. By this we can safely concur that the Word of god and Jesus are 'Spiritual Rocks'.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:1,2

It is clear from the above scripture that Jesus and the Word are one!

Again in John 6:63 it is said that the Word of God is Spirit and in John 4:24, it is said that God is Spirit and His worshippers must worship in Spirit and in truth. But in order to do that, we need to be 'born again' with the 'Life of God' in us and the only way to do this is to  spiritually eat and drink the body and blood of Christ! (1Cor 10:2,3)

The only way to be more and more like Jesus is to 'spiritually 'chew' on the 'Word of God' continually! If you do this, you will be filled with Christ and therefore His Glory (Col 1:27 Christ in you the hope of Glory). God's standard for us is HIS GLORY!

One will ask, "How can we receive the Word of God?"

Heb. 4:2 gives a very good answer! 'Hearing the Word of God must be combined with Faith'. We also know from Heb11:6 that 'without faith it is impossible to please God'.

By all of the above we can then deduce that Victory will be ours by our faith in the Word of God!
LET THE WORD OF GOD BE YOUR STRONG FOUNDATION! READ THE WORD, SHARE THE WORD! BE A WORD ADDICT FROM NOW ON!

After all, 'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness'
