Don't you think that it's that very selfless attitude that's emasculating married men and making them submissively passive?These perfect unions of generous love, where both partners are in caught in an eternally unconditional passion..are fairy tales. How can you say marriage is 'not about you' when your pledging yourself to someone for the rest of your life? It's a mammoth commitment, requires some self fulfillment. This ideal you're proposing is far-fetched because it's only human for one to think about themselves as well as their partners. Marriage is as much about yourself as it is about the person you're with.
